With rare dedication to integrity Longordo works in the rich traditions of the Renaissance era. Working with mixed media, such as airbrush, dry brush, pastel, pen and ink to capture his subjects true essence. A commercial artist widely known for stirring spritual and patriotic themes, his subjects range from John the Baptist to Nascar notable Kyle Petty.
Creator of celebrity cakes for Apple Annie’s 5th generation family bakery in Wilmington, NC, Gary has whipped up portraits in icing for legendary figures, Jackie O, Stephen King, Whitney Houston, Michael Jordan, Eddie Van Halen, Dolly Parton, Ronald Reagan and countless others.
While attending art school Gary seized the opportunity to work in the comic book industry as an “ink boy”, for Murphy Anderson (Superman artist) and Frank Zaccarelli (Batman artist). His art training eventually led him to enroll in law enforcement academies in New Jersey, Florida, and Texas, where he began doing composite sketches. To hone his skills Gary studied anatomy and medical illustration for five years. Over the decades he has worked with agencies such as Naval Investigation Services, The Secret Service, FBI, and the Canadian Mounties. All of his talent and skills have made Gary one of the country’s most sought after and successful forensic artist.
Beyond his police work, Gary has developed quite a resume in commercial art. He has been commissioned by the Marilyn Monroe Foundation, MLB Celebrities, The New York Yankees, 500 home Run Club, Cal Ripkin Ironclad, Willie Stargel Foundation, M&M’s, McDonald’s, Wise, Conair, Playboy Magazine Burger King, and several Broadway productions including Evita, and Sweeny Todd.
Gary’s work is held in private collections of Frank Sinatra, Michael Jordan, Mickey Mantle, Harmon Killebrew, Reggie Jackson, Miguel Cairo, Ernie Banks Clete Boyer, Whitey Ford, Jackie Onassis, Ronald Reagan and Jerome Bettis.
